One month ago, I mentioned that I am de-activating my DSL service and applying again for the discount, that connection still isn’t re-activated.
The short version of the story is given below, if you want to know the complete detail, which includes my rant too, it’s after the jump.
Short Version:
It’s been a month since I re-applied for the connection, first they kept saying it would take 2-3 more days, and then when they finally came by for installation, they found out my username / password is not authenticating and apparently they will fix it later that day, 2 more weeks have passed and I am still without a connection. Every person we contact in morning prmoises that it will be done by evening, in evening they say in 15 mins, and after 15 mins they have already left for home. Next day, we can’t find that person again and the process continues.
Long Version:
I (actually my brother) returned the equipment at PTCL’s main office to start the deactivation procedure, which according to them would be completed by the evening, but it was only completed when my brother again visited their office after 3-4 days and met with their General Manager.
After that, I re-applied for the connection (on 24th Jan), and after couple of days when my university approved my request, got a call from PTCL that my connection would be activated in few days. Next day I again got another call from the company asking couple of questions and confirming my address; later that day couple of company representatives came by to check the line quality and told me that my connection will be activated by next day.
When I didn’t hear from them again for few days, I called them and found out that it will take 2-3 days more, I called them again after 2-3 days and got the same reply. Then, around a week and half earlier, they came for installation, but after installing modem and configuring it was found out that my username and password doesn’t authenticate. The “installation guy” made some calls and after trying for almost half an hour told me that due to some problem my username / password were not successfully generated by the system. So, he left the modem here and said that he would get the problem fixed later that day and if he couldn’t he would give me a test account. When he didn’t call later, I tried to call him many times but he never answered the phone. Next day, he said that he is still trying to get the problem fixed and that they don’t have any test accounts to give to users.
I contacted him couple of times again, but didn’t get any helpful answers, so, I asked my bro again to drop by their office and try to figure out what the problem is. He went again, met with GM, who asked people responsible for this, who said it would be done by the evening and gave him their number. We called him in evening and he said he will call back in 15 mins, when he didn’t call back in half an hour, I called him again and found out that is he out at the moment, but he is working on it and will call back himself. Nevertheless to say, we never got that call, and were never able to contact him again. When we tried again next day, there was another person there who said that he will personally work on it and the problem will be fixed by evening and the cycle continued…
When I was completely disappointed and was thinking about changing ISP, I got another call from PTCL just 3 days ago; They said there were some problems with generating my authentication credentials so, they are withdrawing my request. Request would have to be submitted again, but I won’t have to do anything now, they will take care of everything themselves and it will be done in 1-2 days.
Conclustion :
I am still waiting for their call, but to be honest I am not really hopeful. Let’s see what happens now.
